Game 11 : CSK vs DD
Beware of Monsters!
Delhi did not, and met with..
Hayden and mongoose.
CSK: Mongoose Hayden & Raina
We all knew it was going to come sooner or later, and it’s advantages were well advertised. But every wand needs a magician, and the mongoose found that in Hayden. The burly Aussie decided to blast his way out of form against the hapless Delhi bowlers. He looked shaky at the start, but with the mongoose in hand, he overcame the timing issues and glitches by sending the ball to the boundary and over it. Opponents beware.
For his first game as skipper, Raina didn’t exactly have the best of starts. He got into panic mode straight away , using 4 bowlers in the first 4 overs against the Nawab of Najafgarh. He also under-utilized Balaji, CSK’s best bowler of the day, and gave away some extra runs which could have been disastrous. Fortunately, Raina made amends with the bat, seeing his side through.
DD: Viru and bowlers
Sehwag was in awesome form, and threatened to put the game beyond anyone’s reach on his own. Against pacers, it was sheer intimidation, and against the likes of Murali and Ashwin, he decided to show off his deft touches. CSK had no answer to him till that incredible catch that Kemp took.
Save Nannes, the rest of the bowlers really let their team and stand-in captain down. Karthik played a really silly stroke to get out in the DD innings, but his captaincy was quite sharp. Field placements were quite on the mark, and Karthik’s keeping saved even more blushes. I wonder why he didn’t use Viru for an over or 2 , when everyone else was getting hammered. Delhi need some help soon, and will be praying for Nehra’s return.
Game 12: KXP vs DC
Kings were discharged.
Bowlers ripped, Batsmen absent
Not looking Preity.
KXP: Irfan Pathan
The Pathan brothers are bent on making miracles. Irfan almost pulled off the impossible on his own, something which his elder brother is known for. However, with his more correct technique and timing, fluidity and grace, Irfan his more likely to be more consistent. Couple that with his bowling and we’ll understand why Irfan is still the best bet for India’s eternal search for the next all-rounder. Sreesanth needs to be shown the bench, and Sangakkara and Yuvraj must find form if KXP want to make any noise. What a colossal waste of talent.
When things seemingly start falling out-of-place for them, someone puts their hands up and performs. After a whirlwind start, it looked like DC were losing their way, till Suman and Vaas added some crucial runs, which on hindsight seemed like a godsend. Similarly, when Irfan threatened to inflict DC some pain, Gilly threw the ball to Jaskaran Singh for his first over, and the game’s last! Jaskaran took Pathan’s wicket with the first ball, and sealed the in. This is what makes the team dangerous, they seem to win the crucial moments in a game!
